About me

me! me! me!

Heyo! I am Eliyah Reygaerts. A 25 year old student photographer, living in Belgium. Studying at Narafi, Luca school of arts in Brussels. I've always been passionate about doing something creative ever since I was a child. Over the years, that passion has taken many shapes, drawing, experimenting with video, writing small fragments of poetry, and eventually finding my voice in photography.

What excites me most is exploring analog and digital, chaos and calm, reality and imagination. I see photography not only as a way of capturing moments, but also as a way to create my own little worlds where my vision comes to life.

Right now, I’m still learning, experimenting, trying new processes, playing with visual storytelling, and figuring out how my work can connect with others.

Artist Statement

In my photography, I explore how we perceive, remember, and feel the world around us. What I see is transformed in my images into a more personal, inner experience.
I want to explore the boundary between what happens outside of us and what we experience inside.

My work moves between natural and urban environments and intimate portraits. I like to distort or blur these worlds so that they say something about identity and emotion. Time plays a silent but essential role in my work: memories fade, moments are stretched or relived. Through visual distortion and cinematic techniques, I try to make time tangible: not as a linear flow, but as an emotional experience.

I like to work with film grain, blurring, and other experimental techniques. For me, these are not mistakes, but ways to convey feeling and atmosphere. I use light and color consciously; they help me to set a certain emotional tone.

My style lies somewhere between photography, painting, and film.
I am inspired by movements such as impressionism, surrealism, and expressionism, where there is room for the dreamlike and subjective.

Ultimately, I want to take the viewer to a world where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. A world where there is room for wonder, feeling, and a different way of looking.
